Fan Friday: Dave Gejeian and The Cosmopolitan Tavern
October 29, 2010 § 1 Comment
Talk about talent coming out of Fresno. If you don’t know Dave Gejeian yet.. you will. He’s an incredibly talented writer and one of our all around favorite people. Dave Gejeian is Fresno and we’re more than thrilled to have him as our guest this Fan Friday. Take it away Dave.
Established in 1933, the Cosmopolitan Tavern is in a class of its own. If you live in Fresno, you need to head downtown to this iconic restaurant. The Cosmopolitan delivers in many ways—offering friendly service, mind-blowing food at a reasonable price, and an atmosphere that epitomizes the term, “old-school Fresno.” The menu has something for everyone—presenting a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, chicken, tuna and tri-tip salads, fish & chips, and even sweet potato fries with a jalapeno aioli sauce. My personal favorite is the “Tri-Tip Cheese Steak sandwich”, which is smothered in Mozzarella, toasted on a Panini grill, and served with a side of au jus. Consider skipping breakfast before you visit, because the portions are quite large. Stop drooling over the sensationalized traveling eaters on the Food Network, and experience a mouth watering New York style pastrami sandwich in your own backyard. I’ve spent over eight years working in restaurants, and believe me when I say that the Cosmopolitan is something special. It’s consistent, affordable, and delicious—you can’t lose. Do yourself a favor and make this nostalgic piece of Fresno a part of your restaurant rotation. You won’t regret it.
